On today’s Venue Spotlight, we’re headed to charming historic downtown St. Augustine to The Treasury on the Plaza.
The Venue
Built in 1926, the First National Bank served as a premier bank in St. Augustine, located in the heart of its historic downtown. It was repurposed into a private event venue in 2014, and since then, thousands of guests have said their vows in the Treasury we know and love today.
Upon entering, you’ll notice the scale of the room, lined with its iconic columns, and centered around its Grand Vault. This vault also serves as the Vault Bar for events, adding a fun and stylish way for guests to get their party started. A Treasury on the Plaza wedding is luxurious and grand, making it the perfect venue to capture in a live wedding painting.
Why Live Wedding Painting is the Perfect Choice for Couples Tying the Knot at Treasury
Treasury’s square layout fits perfectly on any size canvas and even works in both horizontal and vertical canvas orientations. Special moments at Treasury are often centered around the Grand Vault and the dance floor. The Vault Bar and the pillars that line the room really allow for some fantastic framing elements that help keep the focus on the main subjects. With some paintings, I can keep the couples smaller, showcasing the scale of the room.
The large open space at Treasury makes for both a comfortable working environment, and it also offers the perfect “stage” for guests to watch my couples’ live wedding paintings come to life. The granduer and opulence of the venue also allow a live wedding painting add to the aesthetic of the venue and its celebrations, making live wedding painting a very natural addition to any Treasury on the Plaza wedding.

Why I Love Treasury on the Plaza Weddings as an Artist
Treasury on the Plaza’s lighting system is a live wedding painter’s dream. Bright spotlights help differentiate the couples from the darker backgrounds. Unique colors help make each painting feel unique and personal, so two paintings never quite feel the same. While indoor venues can sometimes feel darker and less lively, that is definitely not the case here.
There are some venues that just offer so much variety, and so much for my brain to pick apart, and The Treasury on the Plaza is at the top of the list. Energetic poses, quiet moments, iconic backgrounds? The Treasury really has it all, and it couldn’t be more of a treat to paint there. Capturing its scale and awe is quite a challenge, but if I can really break down and understand what makes the venue so appealing on a visual level, there are some magical paintings to be made.
An all indoor wedding also offers the perfect temperature controlled environment for the delicate and temperamental nature of creating something with paint.
