It’s been six months since we participated in our first Big Fake Wedding event! The Big Fake Wedding is a unique style of wedding show that combines the elements of a traditional wedding expo with a staged wedding. Along with vendor booths, the event is complete with a ceremony and fully decorated reception. When we found out that Big Fake Wedding would be coming to Orlando, we knew we needed to be there. The event even had an “inner artist” theme!
After arriving to set up at the event, Jamie began painting the ceremony set up in preparation to paint the “fake” wedding ceremony. While the wedding itself is staged, the couple featured in the Big Fake Wedding is actually a real married couple. The couple uses the event as a chance to renew their vows. Nicole and Palmer were the featured couple during the Big Fake Wedding Orlando, and they made such perfect muses! Here’s another sentence.
Nicole and Palmer’s vow renewal ceremony at Venue 1902 featured a unique moon arch created by talented rental team, Ocean Hawks Rentals. Floral by Gather & Grace Designs completed the beautiful backdrop. Jamie opted for a simplistic composition for this painting in order to fully feature the couple and showcase the whimsical decor. Nicole and Palmer’s painting later became the inspiration for our Bella collection, which has since become one of our most popular painting collections. Since Bella paintings depict only the couple in the painting, with officiant, bridal party and guests left out, they provide a more intimate and romantic ambiance that focuses solely on the couple.
Nicole and Palmer’s vow renewal ceremony was a beautiful tribute to a gracious couple. Even though it was under the guise of a “fake” wedding, this ceremony gave us all of the warm fuzzies of the wedding ceremonies we typically work! After the ceremony, the event continued with a “first” dance and mini-reception. Guests were free to visit vendor tables, and I was able chat with visiting couples while Jamie finished the painting. The night ended with a fun balloon exit!
Big Fake Wedding Orlando was far and away our favorite wedding event out of the many we have had the privilege of participating in over the past several years. We met so many wonderful couples and made connections with fellow vendors that we still keep in touch with today. To top it off, the event provided us with our first ever publication! Being published in Wedding Chicks continues to be one of the biggest highlights of our time running Event Painting by Jamie. Click here to access the Wedding Chicks feature.
Things have changed significantly for everyone in the past six months. Within that, the event industry has been one of the biggest economic casualties. It is important now more than ever that we all take the time to support our local event service providers. Please be sure to read our recent blog post for some (absolutely free!) easy ways to support your favorite local event businesses. Click here for the post.
